Ellastration

The authorial work represented by the name Ellastration is based on delicate illustrations. These illustrations use different materials to tell a story.

At the very beginning, they were drawn on paper. The combination of petite drawings and five authorial poems produced a book called Snovotvary. Its pages show a fox being born out of dandelion fluff or a deer ripening in the branches of a tree. It is an excursion to child’s imagination interconnected with nonsense.

In April 2016, Snovotvary was selected to be part of the international exhibition of children’s books (Książka dobrze zaprojektowana) in Katowice, Poland.

The illustrations started seeping onto the porcelain and created a series of porcelain objects with animal and plant motifs processed into the form of special decals. The porcelain dishes are manually decorated with these decals and fired in a ceramic furnace at a high temperature. It ensures permanent coloring and the possibility to wash it in a dishwasher or put it in a microwave.

Suddenly, an idea came around to frame individual illustrations. They were placed on the walls of children’s rooms all over the Czech Republic and abroad. The last endeavor was combining illustrations and textiles.
